Google Web Elements

I'm at the Google Developer conference this week (4,000 of my geekiest friends and me) and so far the highlight was the free Android phone they gave to each attendee.

But an announcement that will be of interest to most web site owners is the introduction of Google Web Elements.

Think of it as Google Adsense (copy-paste code on your site) for many of the other Google services.

Below is a news web element with a focus on the San Francisco Giants.

Very easy and very cool.

Check out web elements at:

Other web elements are:

- Calendar
- Conversation
- Custom Search
- Maps
- Presentations
- Spreadsheets
- YouTube News

Stop the presses - Microsoft made me laugh

This video seems loosely related to the Internet Explorer 8 launch. They finally, yes finally, have a browser that is mostly standards compliant. Now please everyone who use IE please upgrade to it so I don't have to develop web sites to render correctly in IE6.

Alll you do is input a search term at the site and it will

WinScribe Digital Dictation

I’ve just completed the production of WinSribe Digital Dictation (a new web site for the good people of Zephyr-TEC) and I’m pretty proud of it for a number of reasons.

First, it is an all CSS/XHTML site, not a table layout to be found. And, if I do say so myself, it is a very elegant design with a good balance of content and white space.

Over the coming weeks I will be adding content to the site and tweaking it for a higher search ranking. The main keyword I am working on is “digital dictation.” It is a pretty competitive keyword, but I’ve built some pretty strong incoming links and, as they get indexed by Google, I should see the site rise in the rankings.

Also look for a redesign of newink.com before the New Year.
