Social Networking: Obama vs. McCain

I signed-up a while ago to receive information from the Obama campaign.

I must admit they have been very savvy users of the Internet and social media for information distribution, contribution solicitation and supporter organization.

Their "MyObama" page, (you create when you sign-up), tracks activity and contribution totals and all activity related to helping Obama get elected. It is well organized and is a very impressive use of the Internet by a political candidate.

One use of video that I thought was cleaver and gave supporters a feeling of being
an insider was a youtube clip of Obama and Biden signing the papers to put them
on the ballet for president.

Now here is a screen shot of the McCain supporter page:

Compared to Obama's it seems they took a kitchen sink approach and
really cluttered-up the page with too much stuff with no focus.

Also since signing-up on the McCain site I've received zero emails from
them. No pleas for contributions, nothing.

By comparision I recieve atleast one email a day from the Obama campaign
asking for money (they always do that) or telling me their take on events.
