Your Life a Little Easier with Google Toolbar and Google Maps

As a small business owner, I'm sure your time is always in short supply. And like me, you're always trying to find ways to shorten everyday tasks. Well, as this relates to your online time, this week's blog is for you.

I've been using Google Maps and the Google toolbar for a while now, but didn't notice (until recently) this cool little feature that makes them work together for your convenience and pleasure.

If you don't know about the Google toolbar it is an incredibly time saving piece of software that is a free download and works with Internet Explorer and Mozilla FireFox. If you don't have it, download it now it will change your Internet surfing life. It is helpful when doing quick searches and finding everything Google.

A little know feature of the toolbar is the "Autolink" button. It is about midway down the tool bar, next to the icon that looks like a magic wand. This is how it works: You surf to a page that has an address on it; you click on the Autolink magic wand and the address is instantly changed into clickable text; when you click on the address it automatically takes you to a Google Maps page of the address' neighborhood with the address highlighted on the map. From there you can get driving direction to this address, if needed, or just look at the area either in map, satellite or hybrid mode. Yes you can even see the map is satellite view, very cool and kind of fun, in a geeky sort of way.

So that's it. A simple little time saving tool. Enjoy!

If you already have the Google toolbar loaded try it now with the below address:

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW,
Washington, DC 20001

(When you look at satellite view and zoom down you'll noticed that the top of the White House is covered on the image, for understandable reasons.)
