Go local on the World Wide Web
With announcements and beta products coming from Google, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves and others this year, localized search content is beginning to grow as a viable product for small business.
In a recent industry report 35% of all searches are for local businesses or local products. That is a substantial number and one many small businesses are not taking advantage of.
To be a part of this small businesses should do the following:
1. Make sure your business is listed in all of the Internet yellow pages. From Verizon SuperPages to the SBC SmartPages submit your company and follow-up to make sure your company gets listed.
2. Try some of the local pay-per-click advertising. Overture Local Match is a great resources for small business to find customers on the Internet locally. You pay only when someone clicks on your ad. Also Google Adwords has the ability to target local prospects.
The above are some of the initial activities you can do to capture prospects from local search. I will be writing much more about this in the coming weeks and months.
